Dead son, young son found in a pond in New Jersey

Officials said a substitute teacher and her 11-year-old son were found dead in a pond in New Jersey.

The bodies of 35-year-old Wardha Syed and his son Uzair Ahmed were found on Tuesday in the Upper Pond section of Grace Lord Park in Waraton. Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday.

Syed’s 6-year-old son, who was not identified, was also not found at the scene.

The circumstances leading to the death are being investigated on Thursday, a spokesman for Acting Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll told the Post.

Spokeswoman Meghan Knab said, “We cannot really provide any further comment at this time, although we will release more details when appropriate.” “Our investigation is active and ongoing.”

Police called nearby people for a 6-year-old child to call for help, asking others nearby to call 911. NBC New York reported.

Syed’s car was found in a nearby parking lot and sources close to his family said that she would sometimes go to the pond to feed the ducks.

A man who told NBC New York that Syed an apartment from his cousin said her husband was hospitalized with Stage 4 cancer. Reportedly, Syed also lost a brother to coronavirus and his sister died a few days ago in Pakistan.

Dr. Abdul Raja said that he believed Syed’s death was accidental, citing an investigator, adding that he worked regularly before his death.

King told NBC New York, “The detective said he did all the shopping – food, groceries, hair color, everything – and he said that when people commit suicide, they don’t do all these things.”

A sign where the bodies were found warns visitors about a steep drop-off that leads to the pond, CBS New York reported.

Meanwhile, officials at Bontan Public School said they were “heartbroken” by the loss of Syed and his son, who were in fourth grade.

“Ms. Syed was a substitute teacher at Boonton and a member for our extended day program,” district officials told WPVI in a statement.
