The battered family of a homeless woman killed by “A-Train Ripper” launched a GoFundMe page to help pay for her funeral.
After supporters arrived, Claudine Roberts’ sister Dennis Dennis set up a “Memorial Fund” on Wednesday and asked how they could help.
The family is looking to raise $ 20,000. All funds will go directly to Claudin’s father, Winston Roberts.
“Our family is devastated by the untimely demise of our beloved Claudine, which has left us with a heavy financial burden,” Din wrote on the page.
“We know that your kindness is greatly praised as we navigate this heart-breaking moment. We pray to pray to deal with such devastating loss. In addition, we are paying the funeral cost. And calls for any donations to help with related expenses. “
“We can appreciate anything you do – any donation is too small,” she wrote.
Roberts, 44, was sleeping on a train Saturday when 21-year-old Rigoberto Lopez allegedly stabbed him seven times with a kitchen knife – part of a haphazard spree that left another man dead and two more injured.
Authorities said she was homeless, as were other victims and suspects of Lopez.
His family said he suffered mental problems, unable to help with social services programs, especially during COVID-19, his family said.
“Claudine was a great person and knew all who knew her,” her sister wrote.
Winston Roberts on Tuesday called for more policing in crime-dissected byways in the city, saying that “If they had more police on the train, Claudine would have been here.”
The NYPD announced that it deployed 644 new cops to the system on Tuesday.
