Aida Turturro and Edie Falco may have played uneasy sisters-in-law onscreen, but in real life, they’re besties.
Turturro, who portrayed Tony Soprano’s manipulative sister, Janice, on “The Sopranos,” told Page Six that she’s very close pals with Falco, who played Tony’s wife, Carmela.
“We speak a lot and sometimes I sleep over at her house because I don’t have a house in the city,” the actress, 58, explained. “She’s kind enough to let me crash.”
Turturro lives year-round in Montauk and says she isn’t too enamored with the recent influx of people looking to flee Manhattan during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Turturro argued that the Long Island town “used to be nicer before it got inundated with a lot of people, but I don’t want to go down that route!”
The Brooklyn-born star also told Page Six that she’s been busy filming “The Blacklist” and also just finished up an independent movie, “Call Jane,” which stars Elizabeth Banks and Kate Mara.
But despite her robust workload, Turturro isn’t completely confident that those projects will pay the Montauk bills.
“Mezza Mezza,” she replied, employing an Italian expression that literally means half (good), half (bad), or so-so.
“When you live in Montauk, forget it,” Turturro exclaimed. “I went to buy a melon the other day, it was $11! I did not buy that melon. Not $11 for a melon. It’s a local town and a lot of people can’t afford it. It’s not fair.”
“Anyway, that’s a whole other story for another day,” she added, before heading into the premiere of “The Sopranos” prequel movie, “The Many Saints of Newark,” which launched the opening event of the Tribeca Fall Preview.
