Amy Schumer shared a moment of vulnerability in a new interview where she revealed that her recent liposuction came after she began to get “tired” of seeing her body.
“It’s not about needing to be slamming, because I’ve never been famous for being hot, but I’d reached a place where I was tired of looking at myself in the mirror,” Schumer, 40, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Schumer previously shared that while she never considered plastic surgery, she changed her mind following the removal of her uterus and appendix to combat her endometriosis.
“I healed well, and I was like, can I get lipo? And I got lipo and I’m feeling really good,” Schumer said at the time.
In her latest interview, the comic shares that she didn’t believe she’d be able to tighten up that area naturally with lifestyle choices like eating “grilled chicken” or going on more walks.
Ultimately, she has no regrets over the procedure and prefers to be transparent with her fans, unlike many of her peers.
“Everybody on camera is doing this s—, I just wanted to be real about it,” she said.
She also emphasized her desire to be honest with the public during her trip to Chelsea Handler’s “Dear Chelsea” podcast last week.
“I just wanted to say that, because if anybody sees me in pictures or anything and they’re like, she looks thinner, and whatever: it’s because I had a surgery,” she said to Handler, in her first time publicly talking about it. “It’s too hard, and I just want to be real about it.”
