Apple is once again releasing an update to prevent the MacBook from charging – this time it’s to fix an issue where the 2019 and later MacBook Pros, and the 2020 and later MacBook Air are being damaged Was when the third-party USB-C hub was connected to the dock (Via MacRumors) Belongs to.

It is unclear how widespread the issues are, but A survey on reddit 74 out of 221 respondents had reported that their M1 Air or Pro had failed after using the hub. As with all elections, it is best to take the result with a grain of salt, but a sign that some people were facing issues.

Most of the issues came from using third-party docks, and some of them seem to be from pretty obscure brands, some reported to be identifiable laptops. For its part, Apple called them “non-compliant powered USB-C hubs and docs” in the new update’s notes.

Recently Apple seems to have been working on some issues with power distribution. The last update, 11.2.1, was released to fix an issue where some users were unable to re-charge their computers if they ran up to 0 percent battery, so it did a recall for other MacBook Pro batteries Issued which would not charge the last one percent. , And another recall for Apple Watch’s “a very small number” that won’t charge after an update. Hopefully this is the last power bug Apple has to work on.

If you plug your MacBook into any type of dock or hub, it’s probably best to download this update as soon as possible, especially if it is one of those affected models. Oh, and if you see this message, maybe make sure you’re plugging in an official Apple Power Brick while doing it.

This should probably be done with a first-party power adapter.
