Police said a 2-year-old Kentucky boy died when his mother consumed fentanyl using his incentive check.
Lauren Ashley Baker, 33, admitted to police in Ludlow on Thursday that she received a highly addictive synthetic opioid last week in Cincinnati, while receiving funds from her stimulus investigation. WXIX reported.
After taking excessive drugs – 100 times more potent than morphine – Baker said she brought it back to Ladlow, where she shared it with two others, a police report shows.
He then stated that he “took a shot” of Fentanyl on Thursday after some time. Police said her 2-year-old son ate some medicine, which was in her purse.
Baker later awoke that his purse was empty and his son was not breathing. According to the police report, the boy’s father was not identified, when he came home, he called the police.
When they reached the residence, the police held the boy breathlessly and arrested him.
He was then taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, investigators said.
According to the police report, fentanyl, believed to be a substance, was found scattered on a bed inside the residence, as well as the drug Narcan packaging designed to prevent the effects of openoids.
Baker, who faces murder charges, importing trafficking of fentanyl and a controlled substance, is held without bond at the Canton County Detention Center, records show.
It is not clear exactly which incentive Czech Baker police were talking about. The third round of coronovirus that relieved taxpayers was deposited into nearly 90 million bank accounts on Wednesday – days after police said it used incentives to get fentanyl in Cincinnati.
Baker could face up to 50 years in prison if found guilty of murder, WCPO reported.
She is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, According to the WLWT.
