Things are reportedly tense in Arizona after the Cardinals got blown out by the Rams, 31-11, in Monday’s Wild Card game.
Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill, general manager Steve Keim and head coach Kliff Kingsbury had a “tense meeting” on Wednesday, according to Kyle Odegard of the Seven Star Digital.
“S–t hit the fan,” Odegard wrote in a tweet, citing a source — adding that Bidwill was “unhappy” with the team’s “late-season slide and intimated changes were possible.”
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport responded to Odegard’s report in a Thursday tweet, writing, “There has been no meeting, sources say.”
Soon after that, Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic said a source confirmed that Bidwill is “very, very upset” with how the Cardinals’ regular season ended and his team’s performance in the playoffs. Somers noted, however, that his source “didn’t hear of this meeting.”
Odegard, according to his LinkedIn, previously worked for the Cardinals’ official website until last July.
While fans continue to debate over the conflicting reports, Arizona has yet to make moves or address the buzz.
The Cardinals (11-7) started the season 7-0 until the Packers halted their undefeated season in Week 8.
After Arizona raised eyebrows in Week 10 with a loss to Carolina, they went on to lose their last five home games — one of which included a 30-12 upset to the Lions.
The Cardinals let the division title slip away in a Week 18 loss to the Seahawks.
On Monday, Arizona was outplayed by the Rams, which had a 20-point lead on with 4 1/2 minutes left at SoFi Stadium. Quarterback Kyler Murray went 19 of 34 for 137 yards and two interceptions in his playoff debut to end the season on a 1-5 dip.
It remains to be seen whether or not Arizona will shake things up after a tough postseason sendoff.
