The NYPD released a new wanted poster Tuesday of a female escort who allegedly stole a man’s Rolex in the East Village — after issuing an earlier flier that depicted the wrong suspect.
The police department initially created a poster that showed a woman in revealing clothing and called her the culprit wanted for stealing the man’s $13,000 Rolex on Aug. 3.
It turns out the woman in the photo was not the suspect, cops said.
A police source said the new information that cops obtained was that the thief had tattoos on her arm, but the woman in the original wanted poster did not.
“The complainant provided updated information and that wanted flyer has been canceled,” NYPD Detective Sophia Mason said in a statement.
The victim told cops his roommate brought the escort home to their apartment on Second Avenue at East 11th Street and that he discovered his watch and a credit card missing the next morning, according to police.
The 38-year-old said his roomie found the woman through an online advertisement on Aug. 3 and invited her to come to their apartment.
The suspect placed about $1,300 in charges on the stolen credit card, cops said.
