A New Jersey official said a New Jersey police chief accused one of his partners of promoting him if the officer let him have sex with his wife or the younger daughter should be demoted.
Vineland Police Chief Rudolf Beau was found guilty during last week’s administrative disciplinary hearing of offenses, dishonor, failure to evict a public servant and disregard of duty, Atlantic City Press reported.
The city wanted Beau suspended without pay for 180 days – but retired Judge Raymond A.W. Batten recommended demotion only.
Baton wrote in his April 23 ruling, “Now for any period of time the suspension will neither achieve meaningful nor curative purposes.”
According to the report, BU was already suspended from February 26, 2020, with a salary – $ 154,734-a-year job.
He was facing a set of accusations, in which he told a police force in 2017 to let Beau sleep with his wife or pre-teen daughter that he would promote her.
Beau was also accused of nepotism by improperly promoting his daughter, who is on the force, and not recruiting herself under the discipline of her son-in-law, who is also a Vineland officer.
The 19 requests from city officials and attorneys to process internal affairs file requests were largely ignored, according to the article.
“An auspicious record,” Baton reportedly wrote. “The Deputy Chief of Chief BU’s demand is well measured and warranted.”
The newspaper said BU filed a lawsuit against Vineland last year, alleging defamation, civil conspiracy and rights violations.
