Disney Plus warns of offensive content in some episodes of The Muppet Show

All five seasons of The Muppet Show Arrived at Disney Plus last Friday. And depending on the episode you are streaming, you may receive a disclaimer warning of potentially objectionable content in the episode.

Disney included a content alert for 18 episodes of the comedy show. The disclaimer has been added to some episodes as the picture below warns viewers that the episodes shown may contain “negative portrayals and / or mistreatment of people or cultures”. Despite having a few episodes of controversial content, Disney decided to leave these episodes to “accept” [offensive content’s] Harm effects, learn from it and spark conversations together to create a more inclusive future.

Some episodes of The Muppet Show will display unskilled content warnings for 12 seconds.

An example of this disclaimer is in season 5, episode 14, hosted by singer Johnny Cash. In the episode, Cash sings in front of a united war flag, which in modern times, is associated with white nationalists and white supremacy.

This is not the first time Disney has issued a content warning before some content on its service. Some older films in Disney’s library also contain similar material warnings for racist or insensitive stereotypes, including 1941 Dumbo And is of 1953 Peter Pan. Those films have recently been removed from the Disney Plus “Kids” profile for audiences seven or younger.
