The Eagles were expected to claim a NFC East title last year. Instead, they finished dead-final in the division and elected to move on from quarterback Carson Wentz, taking a huge deadcap hit to receive draft picks from the Colts.
As a result, the Eagles have picked up an additional third-round pick this year and after being traded below the No. 6 spot, they currently have the most picks in this year’s draft with 11.
Putting so much money on the books would make it difficult to rebuild the Eagles quickly. They appear ready to roll with Jalan Hurts as their starting quarterback, but they will need to add some talent around them to be competitive. He has a lot of holes on both offense and defense, so this draft will prove to be important for his future. Either way, it would be good for him to add an infusion of young talent that was previously an old roster.

Eagles need NFL draft
- Wide receiver: The Eagles used a first-round pick on Jalan Reagor last year, but the TCU product did not see the part of a No. 1 WR as a cheater (31 catches, 396 yards, one TD). They will continue to give him chances to succeed, but the team needs a true WR1 and a great receiver can meet in the draft.
- Linebacker: The Eagles had one of the worst linebackers in the NFL last year and were in dire need for a high-end tackle in the unit. Micah Parsons could be an option for him with the 12th pick – if he is available.
- Cornerback: Darley Slay was a good starter for Philly last year, but outside of that, his coverage was poor. He added Anthony Harris to free agency to upgrade the safety space, so expect him to target some cornerback help in the draft.
- Offensive line: Philadelphia lost a ridiculous amount of offensive lineman to injuries last year, so they would be better at that spot by default this year. That said, Jason Kelce is 33 and the team needs to add more depth than usual in case of a re-injury bug bite.
- Defensive Combat: Outside of Fletcher Cox, the Eagles lack a lot at the defensive tackle spot. A smart move would be to add a better-goal player to run around with run-stuffing Javon Hargrave.
