A Puerto Rican boxer accused in the horrific murder of her pregnant lover was convicted by a federal grand jury for murder this week – and may now face the death penalty.
According to a complaint filed by the FBI in the US Territory, Félix Verdejo is accused of carrying out the brutal and calculated murder of 27-year-old Keishala Rodriguez.
In the monk’s murder, Verdezzo allegedly punched Rodriguez in the face, injected him with an unknown liquid and tied his legs and arms with a block last week, as fed.
The former Olympic boxer allegedly threw her off a bridge and fired a gun shot into the water, where she was submerged.
Verdejo turned himself in to police last Sunday and is imprisoned without bail. He was hit with several charges, including kidnapping and murder, which resulted in death and intentionally killing an unborn child.
The boxer, who is married and has a young daughter, could face the death penalty if found guilty.
According to the Associated Press, the victim’s mother, Killa Ortiz, said on Thursday, “What do I need?” We are going through a pain that Tony and I never thought was possible. “
His father said that despite the brutal nature of the crime, he does not support the demand for capital punishment.
“He doesn’t solve anything for me. What have you done, ”he said this week according to the AP. “Remember her every day who was my daughter.”
