Gunshot wound to death after car crash on Staten Island

Police on Saturday fled to the scene of a Staten Island car accident and found a 26-year-old man dying inside a vehicle – from a gunshot wound to his torso.

The man said the man, whose name was not immediately released, was found just after 3pm at 372 Van Dudger St. in Stapleton.

He was taken to Richmond University Medical Center, where he died.

The victim was shot five minutes’ drive away in the vicinity of Laurel and Osgood Avenue.

According to police, he had managed to get into his 2016 Infiniti sedan and drive down Van Doozer Street before the crash.

Police tapped Van Doozer Street near Beech Road, where a black car was pushed against a parked SUV that was badly damaged by the impact.

No arrests have been made. Police continue to investigate the shooting.
