The Knights beat the Pistons 114-104, entering the All-Star break on an 8-3 spree on Thursday night and with a winning record in 19-18.
With 2,000 strong “Let’s Go Go Wicks” chants by hand at the Garden, he overtook the Eastern Conference-worst Pistons for the second time in four days, which has been a recent soft schedule.
In fact, in their last eight wins, seven have come down well against the clubs. (Washington, Houston, Atlanta, Minnesota, Sacramento and Detroit).
But seven years after the league had a laugh, the Knicks would take it. Can they put it again when the play résumé is the second story.
The Knicks will open the second half of the season with a four-game road trip that will test its subtlety – in Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, Brooklyn and Philadelphia – and will not play the Garden again until March 18 against Orlando. They are 11-7 at home.
“We’re growing as a team, growing as a unit,” Randley said. “We got ready to go in the break and be ready because the second half would be a beast.”
Giddy Gardens chanted “We Want Pinson” Thursday night, calling on 12th man Theo Pinson.
Nux still did not have the former piston Derrick Rose (COVID-19 protocol), but it was nothing against the pathetic piston (10-27). By the end of the third quarter all five knock starters had achieved double figures.
Julius Randle closed out the first half of his illustrious season with 27 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists. He will be in Atlanta on All-Star Sunday for his first appearance.
“We’re growing as a team, growing as a unit,” Randley said. “We got ready to go in the break and be ready because the second half would be a beast.”
Randall’s Cydic, RJ Barrett may arrive there one day. He advanced to the All-Star break with a 21-point, five-assist evening in which he shot 9 of 13.
Point guard Elfried Payton was not only back in action after missing four straight games with a hamstring strain, but started. He picked up six quick points, not showing rust with his ability to penetrate, setting the tone and finishing with 20 points in 35 minutes.
Nikki closed the first half with a pancake. They trailed by 15–4 points to 18–4 before a driving layup by Detroit’s Dennis Smith Jr. reduced the score to 59–46 in the final seconds.
The run was upped by Brett, who fed center Nerlens Noel (12 points, 11 rebounds) for the go-ahead stuff. Barrett then worked hard for a tomahawk jam. After a capture, Barrett snatched up a long offensive rebellion and dribbled for a layoff.
Barrett scored 10 points from halftime, and Randall, who was selected for Team Durant in the All-Star Game on the evening, racked up a double-double by halftime (double and double) in the evening (18 and 10).
Meanwhile, former competition point guard debutant Frank Ntilikina in San Antonio continued his 3-point brilliance. After hitting 3 of 3 against the Spurs, he came off the bench in the first quarter and hit three straight in four minutes to make it 6 for the final 6.
Noel, with Mitchell Robinson injured in his starting center, gave a defensive spark with a monster block on Cico Dambouya, driving in the first quarter. The Pistons were rocky from the 3-point line, going 5 of 20 in the first half.
