This year’s Golden Globes 2021 will be broadcast virtually – and for the first time, from both coasts.
Beyond that which is the great unknown.
The Sunday show – co-hosted by Tina Fey in the Rainbow Room at the Rockefeller Center and Amy Poehler at the Beverly Hilton in LA – airs at 8pm on NBC, respectively. Producers are busy working behind the scenes to adapt epidemic-era broadcasts to their virtual realities, including much more than a lack of live celebrity viewers at any location.
“You can expect a star-studded night,” said Barry Edelman, one of the show’s executive producers. “Along with all the participating candidates, as well as presenters who are coming to both locations, we will have one star presenting each award – live.”
Akwavafina, Cynthia Arrivo, Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellweger and Kristen Wiig are among the celebrities who have been announced as the Golden Globe 2021 presenters so far.
“All in all, I think we have about 150 stars involved right now, and bookings are increasing every single day,” he said. “The biggest challenge has been trying to recreate the magic of being together in one place. However, our tech team and our director, Louis J. Horwitz, have offered many creative and innovative ideas that will capture some of the intimacy and spontaneity that audiences love about the globe.
“I think you’ll see things that you haven’t seen in any of the virtual award shows before.”
(An insider told The Post that there is a possibility that viewers will see a “virtual bar element” on the telecast, with the nominees interacting remotely with each other.)
Edleman breaks down the various elements of the telecast, which will give viewers a taste of what to watch on Sunday night.
Fei and Poehler will be socially perverted
The co-host will be separated by some 2,700 miles – but the Beverly Hilton and Rainbow Room will have additional security measures. “We are all taking health precautions,” he said. “As you probably guess, we have strict testing and social-distancing protocols in both places, and with the exception of the actors who are sitting on the stage, everyone else will be required to wear face coverings and maintain social distance . “
There will be no celebrity in the audience

All candidates will get face time
