How to activate show mode on Lenovo laptop

A new show mode feature from Amazon is now rolling out for some Lenovo laptops. When you activate it, it will change your home screen to look like the home screen of an Echo Show smart display, similarly to the Show Mode feature on Amazon’s tablets. This means that you’ll be able to control smart home devices, keep track of the weather, and do smart display things like news headlines and chat with Alexa – you know, the kind of stuff you always want, you can use your Can do on the ThinkPad.

The facility is currently running for Yoga, ThinkPad and IdeaPad PCs in which Alexa is manufactured and is available in the US, UK, Germany, Japan, India, Ireland, Australia, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Australia and is. New Zealand Lenovo says that it is coming to Alexa-enabled PCs later this year.

If you are interested in trying it out, open the Alexa app (if you type “Alexa” in the Windows search bar it should come up) and hit the show mode button.

I’d love if this ThinkPad X12 could use detachable show mode.

Lenovo first announced this feature CES 2021 With its Yoga Slim 9i. Chromebooks have had this feature for some time – they can function like Nest Hub Max when they are not actively in use, although I can’t say that I’ve ever used it as a Chromebook user Have done

In fact, show mode looks like it would be most useful on a device with a tablet form factor, which may not always be around its keyboard and touchpad. For example, it might be cool on a ThinkPad X12 detachable, although the X12 unit I reviewed earlier this year did not come with Alexa. But hey, if you want to try it on your clamshell, don’t stop me.
