Jason Kennedy and Lauren Scruggs are officially parents!
The former E! News host, 40, and fashion blogger, 33, announced via Instagram on Monday that they welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Ryver Rhodes Kennedy.
The two both shared a series of pics from their son’s arrival, including a sweet snap of Kennedy leaning in to Scruggs’ hospital bed as she cradled their bundle of joy.
Another photo featured the new mom lying down as Ryver leaned on her arm and adorably peered up to the camera.
“ryver rhodes kennedy.?,” they both wrote in their captions.
Following Ryver’s birth, Kennedy spoke to Access Hollywood about what life with their newborn has been like thus far.
“Trying to come up with words to fully process the last 48 hours aren’t possible,” he admitted. “Seeing my son for the first time felt like a movie. I kept closing my eyes and finally realized it was true.”
The media personality added that he and his wife – who have been candid about their years-long fertility struggles – “love this boy so much and are so thankful for this time together.”
He also confirmed that mom and baby “are doing great,” before joking, “Can someone help me with this car seat?”
Kennedy and Scruggs – who tied the knot in December 2014 – announced they were expecting in September 2021 after almost five years of trying.
In January of that year, they decided to publicly chronicle their process of undergoing in vitro fertilization.
“It’s always tough when a doctor tells you you can’t have kids naturally and you keep running into complications, but we didn’t sit and wallow in that,” Kennedy told People at the time. “We were really blessed to meet with some amazing doctors and specialists.”
Of their decision to document their IVF journey via social media, Kennedy told the outlet that his wife was “game for everything,” especially the early-morning doctor runs when she “wasn’t in the mood” to be filmed.
“We quickly realized that posting about our story welcomed us into a community of people going through the same thing,” he added. “We were deeply moved by the love and support of so many people that were rooting us on in our fertility journey.”
During her pregnancy, Scruggs penned a blog post about how she and “Jase” had made all the necessary preparations for an at-home birth.
However, the couple’s Instagram posts seem to reveal that Ryver was born in a hospital.
