Jersey Shore wedding turns to chaos when floor caves in

A couple’s dream wedding reception at the Jersey Shore descended into chaos when the second floor of their venue caved in.

Brian and Cassidy Gagliardotto were celebrating their nuptials Saturday evening at the Daymark Bar & Restaurant in Barnegat Light, New Jersey, when the venue started shaking, news station WABC-TV reported.

“Our DJ just kicked it off and we were like three songs in,” the groom told the outlet.

But the couple was sent fleeing for safety along with the 200 friends and family members invited to the reception.

“I felt [the floor], like, drop, and I instantly got off the dance floor,” Cassidy told the outlet.

The Barnegat Light Volunteer Fire Company rushed to the scene and evacuated the guests with help from the DJ.

“The DJ did an excellent job of announcing to all patrons to safely exit the building after hearing the rumble noise,” the department said on Facebook Sunday.

No injuries were reported, though the Daymark will remain closed until it is structurally sound.

After the initial shock, the new Mr. and Mrs. Gagliardotto took their celebration elsewhere.

“We knew where my parents were staying and we moved to that location and the party just continued on,” Brian said.

The couple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
