Joey Logano on Taldega Racing after going to Hawaii in the wreck: ‘We have to fix it’

Joey Logano spent far fewer days on the track on Sunday in Talladga than his winning team pancake teammate Brad Keselowski.

As the lead pack of cars approached with the green / checkered flag to end the first 60-lap stage of the GEICO 500, an aggressive push from Ricky Stenhouse Jr. forced Denny Hamlin out of the line. In the process, Hamlin slammed the left side of Logano’s car, which flew into the air from the Chevrolet’s bumper of Stenhouse, he overturned, climbed onto his roof and barrel-rolled before turning right.

Keselowski’s car also caused minor damage in the incident.

When Logano’s car leapt onto his roof, his head hit the roll bar.

“It’s nobody’s fault,” Logano said after a mandatory visit to the Enfield Care Center. “Denny’s trying to go and 47 (Stenhouse). It’s a product of this racing. We’ll have to fix that, though.

“At the same time, I am appreciating driving a car that is safe and what Team Pancake has done to protect these cars so that I can talk about it and go again.

“I was lucky that I didn’t get hit while in the air.”
