Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos showed off the bizarre way they’re forced to hold hands because they’re “arm-length incompatible.”
The “Live with Kelly and Ryan” co-anchor and her husband, who filled in for Ryan Seacrest Monday, explained that they have such a disparity in their arm lengths that it’s nearly impossible to link hands normally.
“For those of you just tuning in, Mark’s arms are — you know how they say that you hold out your arms and your wingspan is the length of your body? Mark’s arms are four inches longer than the length of his body, and interesting, [mine] are four inches shorter,” Ripa explained.
“But when we try to hold hands … You want to show everybody what happens when we try to hold hands?”
Ripa, 51, and the former “Riverdale” star, 50, then stood next to each other to show the different lengths of their arms before revealing the way they manage to do it — no matter how inconsiderate it may be to other people.
“So we have to hold hands like this,” said Consuelos, as the two held hands while standing apart at a distance.
“Not kidding. That’s how we walk and hold hands,” Ripa added. “You know, in New York, people are like, ‘Yeah, take up the whole sidewalk!’ And I go, ‘Have you seen our arms? Shut it! Go around us!’”
Ripa and Consuelos married on May 1, 1996, and share daughter Lola, 20, and sons Michael, 24, and Joaquin, 19. The former “All My Children” actress got a tattoo of their wedding date on the inside of her elbow in May 2021 in honor of their 25th anniversary.
