Pillar of power
Kevin Pillar, center field and batting leadoff, went 2-for-2 with a 14-9 walk to the Mets, who loss to the Cardinals at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Fla.
Second jacob
Jacob Barnes threw 35 pitches in the third inning that ended with two outs due to pitch-count restrictions. The right-hander scored three earned runs on three hits and had two walks in the inning.
caught my eye
Tomas Nido made an error in Nolan Arenado’s pickoff attempt at first base. Nido’s throw went to Wright Field.
Thursday show
David Peterson will face the nationals at Port Peter Lucy. Jeyers Familia, Dallin Betances and Trevor May are among the other scheduled pitchers for the Mets.
