The 132-115 loss against the Nuggets on Tuesday night was a fourth consecutive for the Knicks. It’s their 10th defeat in the last 12 games.

However, as the team leaves Denver, they have more to worry about given what transpired in the final minute of the game.

In the closing seconds of the lopsided contest, RJ Barrett limped back to the locker room.

What is RJ Barrett’s injury?

With around 30 seconds left on the game clock, Barrett was getting set to run on offense following a closeout. That’s when he hurt his left ankle by twisting it.

He quite clearly seemed in some serious pain. After laying on the floor for a bit, he limped back to the locker room.

When he left the floor, the Canadian guard had recorded 18 points, two rebounds and two assists in 35 minutes of action.

How long is RJ Barrett ruled out?

Postgame, there was no update from the Knicks or head coach Tom Thibodeau on the severity of the injury or Barrett’s return timetable.

Barrett has been pretty durable for the Knicks this season, playing in 48 of the team’s 55 games with averages of 18.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

Overall, in his three seasons with the team, he’s suited up in 176 of the possible 193 games.

Knicks’ 2021-22 upcoming schedule

This game in Denver was the third of the team’s ongoing five-game road trip.

Following Tuesday’s loss, the Knicks have four games remaining prior to the All-Star break – two at home and two on the road.
