Have Kyler Murray and the Cardinals worked through their differences?
The Arizona quarterback took to Instagram Tuesday to restore hundreds of Cardinals-related photos.
The cryptic social media move came nearly a month after Murray removed any and all evidence of the team from his Instagram feed — leaving just two photos of the Oklahoma product winning the Heisman Trophy and another shot of him at the Pro Bowl.
It kickstarted a wave of drama with the Cardinals and stirred speculation that Murray’s future with the team was in jeopardy.
Murray broke his silence on Feb. 14, and shared an Instagram photo of him in a Cardinals uniform at Soldier Field.
“I play this game for the love of it, my teammates, everyone who has helped me get to this position that believed in me & to win championships,” he wrote in part in his caption, later adding that he will “continue to grow and get better.”
Just two weeks later, Murray made headlines again after his agent Erik Burkhardt sent a contract proposal
to the Cardinals, urging the team to prioritize Murray’s contract and make a “real commitment” to the quarterback.
Neither Arizona general manager Steve Keim, nor head coach Kliff Kingsbury have spoken to Murray since the statement was released, ESPN reported on March 1.
“The one thing I’ll say is in regards to the statement, I know everybody’s seen that, I think it’s an agent doing his job,” Keim said at the time. “I have a lot of respect for Eric Burkhardt and, obviously, Kyler Murray.
“From my standpoint, like it’s always been moving forward, any kind of speculation, any negotiations, any conversations and dialogue will be certainly held confidential between the three of us.”
Kingsbury said his relationship with Murray is “in a great place.” According to ESPN, the coach said his long-term goal is to have Murray be the Cardinals’ quarterback.
Murray started the last season on a high, leading the team to a 7-0 record, before the Cardinals slipped to an 11-7 end to the regular season.
Arizona finished the season in losing fashion after a 34-11 beatdown by the Rams in the wild-card round. Los Angeles went on to win the Super Bowl in February, beating the Bengals 23-20.
