Lego’s new $ 200 R2-D2 set is the droid you’re looking for

R2-D2 – Everyone’s Favorite Droid Unless You Are, Star Wars Movies Anthony Daniels – The $ 200 Lego Collector Set is being updated, and is the largest and most accurate Lego model yet.

The 2021 R2-D2 set as the 2013 model is nearly identical in physical size (about one foot tall) and piece count (2,314 pieces on the new model). But Lego has taken years of maneuvering to make his craft shine. The new R2-D2 does away with the exposed studs on the original’s blocked head for a smooth look. Lego also rounded out the Droid’s body to make the whole thing more cylindrical and improved on the R2’s “face” in detail for a more screen-accurate (and friendly) look.

The updated R2-D2 also has more hidden features. While the original model offers only one Pop-up scomp link And saw the buzz, 2021 repetition swap out Jigsaw for a manipulator arm; Retractable periscope connects Return of the Jedi; And, which may be my favorite new addition, features a hidden pop-out LEGO version of Luke’s green lightsaber (perfect for saving your friends from the sand barge of a giant location slug).

The 2013 R2-D2 set released for $ 179.99, $ 20 less than the current one, but has been discontinued for years. If you are a lego or Star wars The fan who missed out (or, like me, was the one who got lost during a move), has been your only option aftermarket, where prices for dependable little droids have skyrocketed; New copies of the set often sell for double or even triple their original price. This is why Lego is so exciting to watch that it is not bringing back the set, but it has been improved a lot in the process.

The new and improved R2-D2 model is set to go on sale through Lego’s website on May 4 (of course) at $ 199.99.
