The recipe for winning baseball is not more Cowbells, but games against the Detroit Tigers. Wow, are they really a bad baseball team. Fashion took wide advantage over the weekend. The Bronx Bombers are now 14–14 and coming to the city on Tuesday for a three-game series with the Astro. Get a boon from Yankees fans for raining on the Astros for the first time since the cheating scandal.

To talk about the sweep and look ahead to the Astros, we’ve brought you a new episode of “Pinstripe Pod” with Chris Shorn and Jeff Nelson, along with former Yankees catcher and current Princeton baseball coach Scott Bradley Is the interview.

Pinstripe pod opening segment with Chris, Jeff and Jake:

  • Typing tiger: It’s amazing how tyrannical the Tigers lineup is. Was it more Yankee good or tiger bad? 43 strikes out of 96 batsmen are almost unheard of. It is good to see Corey Kluber’s pitch well, although it is almost against an AA team. Why is Giancarlo Stanton getting a day off after a good string of games? Why does Aaron Hicks always swing for a home run? Astro would be a good test for this Yankees team.
  • NELLIE in the stadium: A couple asked Nellie to take a picture of him at the game, with no idea that it was him. Great times at bars outside Yankee Stadium.

Scott Bradley Interview:
Former Yankees catcher (1984–1985), Princeton Baseball Head Coach (1998 – present)
, Randy Johnson caught in 1990 as a no-hitter

  • Analysis / Coaching: There is only too much analytics in the game and rewarding people for doing nothing. This generation cares more about line drives than hitting the opposite area.
  • Like Coaching Mike: He used to hit all areas. Great kid who pitched and killed at Princeton. If he scores 300 runs in bats, you will see him hitting 20 home runs. He is trying too much to speed things up and pull the ball.
  • Catching Tom Sewer / Witten Johnson: Stories of catching the sewer with the White Sox and why the sewer liked him. Randy Johnson’s no-hitter catch in 1990.
