Philanthropist and TV personality Marcus Lemonis on Sunday offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the deadly Miami banquet hall shooting.
The host of the CNBC series “The Profit” and “Streets of Dreams” took to Twitter to announce the bounty on the unidentified shooters — just hours after the deadly incident.
“I’m offering a $100,000 reward to help authorities in my hometown @MiamiDadePD arrest and convict the suspect/suspects,” Lemonis wrote. “Pass this on.”
Police said the three shooters jumped out of an SUV outside the El Mulla Banquet Hall in Hialeah during a rap concert shortly after midnight and opened fire before fleeing the bloody scene in the vehicle.
Miami-Dade Police Department Director Alfredo “Freddy” Ramirez called it a “cowardly act of gun violence” and called for stricter gun control laws just hours later.
“We need to have universal background checks, we need to make burglarizing these licensed gun stores a federal crime with mandatory sentencing,” the chief said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday.
“We need the federal government on both sides to address these issues.”
The Lebanese-born Lemonis, who calls Miami his hometown, has launched several successful television programs and has amassed his wealth as a businessman, political figure and philanthropist.
CNBC’s “Streets of Dreams” is Lemonis’s latest successful TV endeavor.
Miami’s top cop on Sunday heralded his offer of a reward in the shooting.
“Grateful for this contribution @marcuslemonis,” Miami-Dade Police Department Director Alfredo “Freddy” Ramirez said on Twitter. “This is our community, we are stronger together.”
“We need our county to step up with information,” Ramirez said. “If you know something, you can remain anonymous by calling @CrimeStopper305.”
