Microsoft’s new Outlook calendar board view looks like Trello’s

Microsoft is making its first significant change to the Outlook calendar view in years. A new Outlook calendar board view for Outlook is coming soon, and it works like Trello. This is a new dynamic view that will let you organize meetings with tasks, notes, goals, links, files, and more.

It works very much like Trello, where you can add new card information to help organize your calendar and meetings. Files can sit with this view or simple notes and goals to help with the organization. It is essentially an ever-expanding board that tries to centralize everything that keeps your calendar clean and up-to-date.

“On average, people use 6 tools to track everything they need to do,” Says Gabriel Valdez, A product marketing manager for Microsoft’s Outlook team. “It’s a lot of context switching, back and forth, and maybe double tracking as well.” This new calendar board view is designed to help people switch between tools and apps to manage their time.

Microsoft is making this new board calendar view first available in the web for Outlook, and it will soon be available to commercial and education users as well. It is unclear how this new view will appear in the future for Windows or mobile versions of Outlook.

Microsoft is also improving Outlook for iOS and Android for scheduling meetings. Later this month, suggested times for meetings will be visible to all commercial and education users, making it easier to avoid conflicts in scheduling meetings with multiple participants.
