Mitt Romney says Trump will win GOP nomination in 2024

Senator Mitt Romney said President Donald Trump would win the GOP nomination “in a landslide” if he decided to make a run for the White House again in 2024.

Was talking to romney (r – utah) New York Times’ dealbook When he addressed Trump’s position in the future of the Republican Party.

“My party has the biggest voice and a big influence so far,” Romney said. “I don’t know if he plans to run in 2024 or not, but if he does, I’m pretty sure he will win the nomination.”

Romney clarified that “a lot can happen between now and 2024” but he cited polls saying that if Trump “would win in a landslide” he was in the running.

A Politico / Morning Consulting poll conducted in the days following his acquittal in the Senate trial showed 53 percent of Republicans would vote for Trump in the primary. Mike Pence received 12 percent in the poll. All other candidates were in single digits.

But the Utah Senator clarified that he would not be a supporter of Trump, but would be siding with his small caucus.

He said, “I would probably be left behind by someone who thought I represented that little wing of the Republican Party I represent.”
