Monday Night Football FanDuel Picks: NFL DFS lineup advice for Week 2 Lions-Packers single-game tournaments

Monday Night Football FanDuel Picks: NFL DFS lineup advice for Week 2 Lions-Packers single-game tournaments

[ad_1]

The Packers and Lions face off on Monday night, each one looking for their first win of the season. Vegas sportsbooks opened the Lions as heavy 10.5-point underdogs with an over/under of 49. The Lions put forth a respectable effort in Week 1. However, this is more widely viewed as an opportunity for the Packers to bounce back after being humiliated by the Saints last week. They’ll certainly want to rinse away any lingering aftertaste from last week’s shellacking by putting on an offensive show, which is exactly what those NFL DFS contests are looking for. Our FanDuel single game lineup has a slight Packers lean, but a couple Lions picks will key in our quest to cash.

Before we get into our lineup, here’s a reminder of FanDuel’s scoring system for single-game contests: The point total for the “MVP” is multiplied by 1.5, but he doesn’t cost any additional money like the “Captain” in DraftKings Showdown contests. FanDuel’s default scoring is half-point PPR and four-point passing TDs , and there are no bonuses for 300-yard/100-yard games like on DraftKings.

FanDuel Single Game DFS Picks: Lions vs. Packers

$60,000 budget, need at least one player from each team

MVP (1.5x points): QB Jared Goff, Lions ($14,500)

We’re trying to position ourselves to take advantage of low ownership and high scoring potential. It won’t take a miracle for Goff to outscore Aaron Rodgers — even in a losing effort — especially when you consider the running game the Packers boast. The Lions may not win much this season, but don’t be surprised if they’re more productive offensively than the general public anticipated throughout the offseason. Just look at Goff’s garbage-time aided numbers last week.

FLEX: WR Davante Adams, Packers ($15,000)

We don’t have Rodgers in this lineup, but we’re still going to corral a huge piece of their offense. That starts with Rodgers’ top target in the passing game. The Lions will be without starting cornerback Jeff Okudah (Achilles’) which only makes things easier for Adams on paper.

FLEX: RB Aaron Jones, Packers ($12,500)

A threat on the ground and through the air, Jones figures to be busy on Monday night. He’s eclipsed 20-plus FD points nine times since 2019 and is a strong candidate to do so once again in this matchup.

FLEX: TE T.J. Hockenson, Lions ($11,000)

If last week is any indication — and we think it is — Hockenson will effectively serve as the Lions’ WR1. The third-year tight end garnered 10 targets and finished with an 8-97-1 line. The Saints found some success targeting their tight ends against Green Bay last week, and we expect Goff and Co. to follow suit.

FLEX: RB AJ Dillon, Packers ($7,000)

There’s a good chance we look back on the 2021 season and realize Dillon was more sidekick than backup. After all, head coach Matt LaFleur has demonstrated a willingness to give two backs a fantasy-friendly workload both in Green Bay and Tennessee. If the game plays out as a convincing Packers victory, Dillon should get enough work to deliver an impactful fantasy performance.
