A brand new still from the second season of The Witcher shows Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia ready to join battle.

After a promising debut all the way back in 2019, The Witcher is set to return to Netflix later this winter. Henry Cavill is set to return as the infamous Geralt of Rivia, a battle-hardened Witcher on a journey to save the world from frightening monsters and to get back together with his friends and family. Details on the forthcoming season are slim, though we do know that Geralt, grief-stricken, is under the impression that Yennefer has passed. Anya Chalotra’s character, is in fact, well and alive.

The upcoming season should focus on Geralt’s assumption surrounding Yennefer’s demise and how he reels from it. The Witcher is known to be particularly angry, so it’s no surprise that the latest still from the second season of the series shows Henry Cavill’s monster hunter wielding a sword, ready to take on any and all enemies. The first season of the fantasy series was warmly received by fans and critics, so it’s no surprise that the hype is through the roof for the show’s sophomore return. The upcoming season will also see fan-favorite Vesemir show up, Geralt’s mentor and fellow Witcher.

Based on the fantasy series of novels and short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski, Netflix’s The Witcher follows a monster slayer for hire named Geralt of Rivia, played by Henry Cavill. Here’s the official synopsis for the second season of the series:

Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

Henry Cavill’s The Witcher returns for its second season on December 17th. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming Netflix show and be sure to subscribe to Reporter Door’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
