
New York’s COVID-19 positivity rate dropped to its lowest level before Thanksgiving.
The rate was 3.06 percent on Friday, which has not been seen since 23 November.
Friday’s positivity rate, when measured on a seven-day average, was 3.53 percent statewide. New York City had 4.4 percent.
The governor said that even 5,977 people continued to kill in the hospital, the number falling below 6,000 for the first time.
The virus killed 97 New Yorkers on Friday, including 49 from New York City.
54 other cases of the more contagious UK version of the virus were identified in New York, bringing the total number of cases to 136.
Cuomo said New York received 2,335,250 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and 2,173,322 were given on Saturday morning. It took 1,081,917 of 1,284,300 second doses.
