Sources said the officer commander of 75 ex-servicemen from Brooklyn – who have faced community grievances over his leadership – is scheduled to be transferred.
Sources said Deputy Inspector John Mastonordi is expected to be transported from the city’s largest area and sent to the Detective Bureau by the end of March.
“There is a small section of the community who wanted to remove him,” a police source told The Post.
But the source said that the department is relocating Mastonordi due to retiring within the espionage bureau.
A NYPD spokesman said of the transfer: “With the recent changes to the heads of the department and the heads of the detective’s offices we look forward to a number of executive announcements in the near future.”
Mastronardi is the subject of a Change.org petition demanding the removal of 75 Precinct.
“DI Mastonordi was seen on several occasions during the epidemic that he was not wearing a mask, while residents of the eastern New York community for wearing [a] Mask, ”said the petition, which has signed 263 till Tuesday night.
“He is out of touch with our community. He does not have the leadership capacity to change the history of misconduct for this police, ”the petition continues.
Early in the epidemic, Mastardordi was captured on video without a mask as his officers – many had not even covered the face – smashed a group of men for not making a social distinction.
After officers arrested one person during the confrontation, onlookers shouted at them, “You guys didn’t get any masks”, according to the video obtained by the Post at the time.
“I think, if they are following her lead, they are going to follow what the leaders do,” Adrogok Atunbi, who filmed Fracus, said of Mastonordi.
“He was standing there. He shrugged his shoulders, he didn’t care.
It was not clear exactly who would replace Mastonordi to lead 75 Preculture.
But, according to the recently announced reform, the community will have the opportunity to offer their input in the role of an advisor on the next prevailing commander.
