New Yorkers battling the coronovirus epidemic are expanding casino gambling as an alternative to tax hikes and spending cuts.
Seventy percent of the state’s registered voters help the Resorts World Aqueduct and MGM Empire City Yonkers video slots convert parlors into full-scale casinos, a Global Strategy Group poll found funded by two Resino parlors.
Only 16 percent of respondents were opposed, with the rest being undecided.
According to polling, two-thirds of voters in communities around the Racers World Aqueduct and 73 percent of voting gambling parlors around Yonkers Resino extend gambling.
Resorts World-Aqueduct appears to be prepping for the legal right to expand gambling. The firm recently announced that it would build a hotel next to its aqueduct video slot parlor.
The key to becoming a cash cow again will be for the casinos emerging from the epidemic. Last year there was a $ 600 million decrease in revenue due to closures and security restrictions as the state sought to stop the COVID-outbreak.
Voters have been told about New York’s fiscal crisis and that expanded casinos skyrocket for how casinos can generate and how much revenue can grow.
“Billions of dollars in license fees and millions in additional tax revenue and effectively protecting jobs in hard-hit communities in Yonkers and the Bronx per year
The survey conducted by global strategists said that this prompted voters reluctant to support the proposal.
Once voters hear about these benefits, unspecified voters move in favor of the proposal and support becomes 83 percent statewide, ”the analysis said.
In general, voters were asked whether they preferred to close the potential option for a $ 14.5 billion state budget deficit – 56 percent said revenue from gambling was the best option, dwarfing the seven percent that would be taxed Preferred growth and six percent spending cuts. One third of the respondents were unspecified.
Meanwhile, respondents were asked about whether mobile games should be operated by just four up-casinos or through the Resorts World-Aqueduct and Empire City-Yonkers gambling parlors. One-time skeptical government Andrew Cuomo has proposed legalizing mobile sports betting to generate revenue to tackle the state’s financial crisis.
Fifty-one percent of voters said that mobile sports betting should be operated through Aqueduct and Yonkers slot parlors, while 21 percent opposed that, with four apartments being casinos, the rest with one preference.
The epidemic has sparked debate over the expansion of casino gambling.
Under current law, New York may authorize three more full-scale casinos in 2023.
In its budget plan, Gov. Andrew Como is already entertaining initial offers from prospect casino bidders.
In addition to converting Aqueduct and Yonkers Resino into a full-scale casino, the Vornado Realty Trust proposed to build a casino on its property near Herald Square.
Resorts World-Aqueduct has called itself New York’s largest taxpayer, with the report last December that it generated more than $ 3 billion for New York’s Lottery Education Fund since opening in 2011.
A recent study by the New York State Gaming Commission estimated that the opening of three new downstream casinos – including the conversion of Aqueduct and Yonkers and the opening of a new casino in Manhattan – totaled $ 420 million in revenue per year and $ Can generate between 630 million.
