Off-duty NYPD lieutenant shot during suspected robbery attempt in NYC

An off-duty NYPD lieutenant was shot and a suspect killed during a suspected attempted robbery outside a Queens club early Thursday, according to cops and police sources.

The officer was struck in the chest, right leg, right wrist and grazed in the head as he walked to his vehicle around 3 a.m. at Northern Boulevard and 57th Street, outside the La Boom nightclub in Woodside, according to authorities and the sources.

He returned fire and struck the suspect in the head, the sources said. 

The suspect was pronounced dead on scene, and the off-duty lieutenant was listed in stable condition at Elmhurst Hospital later in the morning. 

Police officials said a dispute preceded the shooting but sources said it appeared to stem from an attempted robbery. 

Rapper Myke Towers, who was performing at the club at the time of the shooting, was rushed off stage, witnesses told WPIX
