Patriots NFL Draft Rumors: New England ‘Doing A Lot of Homework’ at Florida QB Kyle Tusk

We are in the final week of the NFL Draft rumor season, and on Friday there is a juicy mix involving the Patriots.

NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremia said “Drive sticksThe podcast that “bit the discussion” is around the league that New England is “doing a lot of homework” on Florida quarterback Kyle Tusk.

New England does not have an obvious long-term option at the position. Last year’s starter, Cam Newton, has only been signed through 2021 and 2019 draft pick Jarrett Stidham hasn’t shown much in limited action. Potts is rumored to discuss a trade with the 49ers for former New England backup Jimmy Garrappolo. San Francisco has traded up to third overall in the 2021 draft, a sign that the team is drafting a QB to succeed Garbolo.

The 23-year-old Trask finished fourth in the 2020 Heiman Trophy vote, as he led the Gators to the SEC championship game, where Florida lost national champion Alabama by a 52–46 margin. He tallied as a senior: 4,283 yards (9.8 per attempt) and 43 touchdowns for just eight interceptions in 12 games.

However, he took advantage of being able to throw first-rounders Kyle Pitts and Kaderius Tony.

SN’s Vinny Iyer is elevated to Trask’s draft status, but he has Trace moving to Washington in the second round of his new seven-round NFL mock draft. They have the Patriots taking Texas A&M’s Kellen Monders in the fifth round.

Trusk ranks sixth among top quarterback prospects in SN’s Zoya Rivera 2021 NFL Draft.
