Officials said a woman from Pennsylvania is accused of shooting her two young daughters.
Chrisinda Bright, 48, was arrested on Monday afternoon in Ambridge, where police in western Pennsylvania responded to a 911 call in connection with a shooting. Interim Police Chief John DeLuca told reporters at a press conference that officers found Bright’s two daughters dead inside a “gruesome scene”. WTAE reported.
Bever County District Attorney David Lozier confirmed to the station that Bright has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide. According to the station’s report, she was staying without bond at the Bever County Jail on Tuesday.
A coroner has identified the victims as both 16-year-old Kiara Bright and 22-year-old Jasmine Canady. Authorities said he was hit by bullets.
Lozier told reporters Monday that investigators were not looking for any other suspects in the double homicide. The motive for the deadly shootout was not immediately clear.
When officers arrived at the scene, Bright was standing outside the house. He had earlier called the police to the residence, WPXI reported.
The 16-year-old victim, according to station officials, was a student at Ambrose High School, citing a statement released by district officials.
“This loss is sure to raise many feelings, concerns and questions for our entire school, especially our students,” said the Ambridge Area School District. “We are saddened by the loss of our school community and will do everything possible to help you and your child.”
It is unclear whether Bright hired a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.
