The Yankees face a daunting second half ahead that they are not accustomed to. They will try and climb out of a hole that has them in fourth in the AL East, eight games back and 4.5 games back of the second Wild Card spot. Forty-nine of their final 73 games come against teams .500 or better. They will be forced to beat some great baseball teams and play far better than their 46-43 record in the first half.
To talk about the second half and the huge four-game series to open it up against the Red Sox, we bring you a new episode of the “Pinstripe Pod” with Chris Shearn and Jeff Nelson, featuring a chat with diehard Yankees fan Constantine Maroulis.
Pinstripe Pod Opening Segment with Chris, Jeff & Jake:
- SECOND HALF: Yankees may have to go 47-26 if they want a shot to win the division. The schedule is brutal the entire second half, especially coming right out of the break. Yankees don’t have the minor league pieces to make a big trade, but they need to act on a deal now instead of waiting until the end of the month.
- RED SOX SERIES: Need to win three out of four. Splitting does nothing. Trey Amburgey gets called up and could play a role going against two lefties to start the series.

- DISAPPOINTMENT: Not hitting with runners in scoring position has been most disappointing thing. Something is going on with Clint Frazier.
- TRADE DEADLINE: What moves can the Yankees realistically make?
- ROASTING ME: Nellie roasts me for my shirt I wore to the Cyclones game with Constantine. Shearnie joins in on the roast of Jake Brown.
