Bayern Munich’s bid to regain the Champions League continues as they face Red Bull Salzburg away in the first leg of their Round-of-16 series on Wednesday.
Salzburg are 14 points clear at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga and managed to finish above Spain’s Sevilla and Germany’s Wolfsburg in the group stages of the Champions League.
Bayern, who have won Europe’s elite club competition on six occasions, lead the Bundesliga by six points.
The two sides met in the group stages of last season’s Champions League with Bayern prevailing on both occasions, winning 3-1 and 6-2.

Bayern are favorites to prevail given their pedigree in European football and the fact that they can call upon an extremely strong forward line, with Robert Lewandowski supported by the likes of Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane.
Karim Adeyemi seems most likely to find the net for Salzburg, but the overriding feeling is that Bayern, one of the tournament favorites, will prove to be too strong.
Bayern won all six of their Champions League group stage fixtures, scoring 22 times and conceding on just three occasions, which provides an indication of the difficulty of the task faced by Salzburg, which went 3W-2L-1D in the group stage.
