Richard Holzer sentenced to 19 years in conspiracy to bomb Colorado Synagogue

He was sentenced to 19–1 / 2 years on Friday after being convicted in a federal hate-crimes case that infested a botched plot to bomb a historic Colorado synagogue in 2019.

28-year-old Richard Holzer appeared in a federal court in Denver for a sentence, an undercover FBI investigation into a plan to blow up Temple Emanuel in Pueblo, the state’s second-oldest synagogue.

Although the plot was foiled, U.S. District Judge Raymond Moore said Holzer asked to “terrorize the Jewish community” of Pueblo, a city of 112,000 residents about 100 miles south of Denver.

Moore said that this is the most vulgar. Bad crimes that can happen against a whole group of people.

Holzer declined to speak at the hearing.

Defendant pleaded guilty in October to one count of attempting to disrupt religious services and one count of attempting to destroy a building used in interstate commerce.

According to the FB arrest warrant affidavit, Holzer, who lives in Pueblo, was arrested in November 2019 after an undercover sting by federal agents tracking his social media postings.
