“Sex and the City” author Candace Bushnell — aka the real-life Carrie Bradshaw — turned 63 in style this week.
We’re told ever-glamorous Bushnell was given a birthday surprise following her one-woman show, “Is There Still Sex in the City,” at the Daryl Roth Theatre downtown on Wednesday night.
A spy told us director Lorin Latarro and Bushnell’s two poodles — Pepper and Prancer — joined her onstage with a cake from Butterfield Market that read “Happy Birthday Candace! Our Star!”
Bushnell was also gifted a pair of Hangisi Manolo Blahnik shoes in gold, with jeweled buckles, from her friend Brooke Shields.
“Brooke wasn’t there,” explained the spy, “but she sent the shoes and a card that read ‘Nobody can fill your shoes.’”
(One of the lines in the show is “Do I have a shoe obsession like Carrie Bradshaw? No. Carrie Bradshaw has a shoe obsession because of me.”)
The audience — which included “Real Housewives of New Jersey” Teresa Giudice — sang “Happy Birthday,” said the source.
Bushnell’s show is based on her 2019 book of the same title, and tracks her Connecticut upbringing to marriage and divorce and beyond.
The show previously played at Bucks County Playhouse, where it was attended by Gigi Hadid, Yolanda Hadid, Tracy Anderson, Nicole Miller and “Dexter” producer Sara Colleton.
Meanwhile, HBO Max is gearing up for its ‘SATC’ revival — which was first reported exclusively by Page Six — “And Just Like That,” starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon. Original cast member Kim Cattrall is not returning for the series.
