Sex Pistol frontman Johnny Liddon had some ruckus about “wickedness”.
In A recent profile with Times UKThe aging punk rocker cried to activists campaigning to “deconstruct culture” and break up national monuments, which they say promote historical racism. The statues include Winston Churchill, one of Britain’s most distinguished prime ministers.
He blamed the academics as well as the media for giving “space” to “needlessly spoiled children”.
The 65-year-old Liddon said, “These people are really not bad at all.” It is selfish and in that regard, it is divisive and can only cause trouble, ”he said.
“I can’t believe that TV stations replace some of these lunatics,” the “Anarchy in Britain” singer continued.
“Where is this ‘moral majority’ nonsense coming from, when they are basically doing something so wrong against someone for being so judgmental and vicious that doesn’t go along with current popular opinion?” He asked. “It’s just the badly, horribly spoiled spoiled kids who come out of colleges and universities for college.”
Addressing calls to tear down Churchill’s statue in London, Lydon rejected criticism that the war’s prime minister was racist. However, critics point out that the leader once referred to Indians as “the oldest people in the world next to the Germans”, and thought that black people “are”[not] Competent or skilled like blondes. “
“This man saved Britain,” Liddon insisted. “Whatever he had previously arisen in South Africa or India is completely irrelevant to the major issue at hand.”
If there is any bigger hater in history than today’s canceled culture, Lidon admitted, this is what the Nazis – and Churchill – have noted.
“We’re not walking on the high street with jackboots and helmets because of that guy,” Liddon said. “The Nazis were the biggest race haters for all in the history of the planet, so thanks the planet again, Winston.”
A vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, Lydon defended American conservatives as “regular working people”, not “redneck, towing, ethnic race haters.”
Now an American citizen, Liddon has shown support for President Trump since 2017, and criticized the media for its rumor-free bias. She told the Times that President Joe Biden “respects nothing but the latest fashion trend,” and has catalyzed America’s “downfall”.
Lydon first revealed in 2018 that he had become a full-time caretaker for his wife Nora Forster, a German publishing heiress who is now 78, who has Alzheimer’s disease.
During a Times interview, Lydon also slapped ex-royals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
He said, “My advice is to keep your own business in mind as well, and if you want to be out of public awareness, don’t go to the Oprah Show. It can only end badly for you,” he said. Be warned.
“You don’t put your head in the guillotine or chopping block, dare, because someone would very happily push that button.”
While the Sex Pistols initially split in the late 1970s, Lydon aka Johnny Rotten continued to perform as Group Public Image Ltd. and later as a solo act. In his Times interview, Lydon announced plans to take legal action to block the release of the upcoming FX Network series based on former bandmate Steve Jones’ 2016 memoir “Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol”. Liddon accused the show of being allegedly out of development.
“This is an insult. I pushed this band forward. I am the man who wrote the words, ”he said. “If they need this secret squirrel about it they must have something to hide.”
