Staten Island Republican Party supports Curtis Salva for Mayor

The Staten Island Republican Party has endorsed Guardian Angels founder Curtis Salva for mayor.

The support of the Island GOP on Saturday night is a coup for Saliva wearing a red beret, as the Island GOP is the strongest, most organized Republican organization in the most democratic city.

Members of the Staten Island Republican Party are concerned with the current trajectory of New York City. Today we take the first step to take back our city, ”said Anthony Reinhart, president of the newly elected Island Republican Party.

Other GOP candidates on the run include Taxi-Bodega Advocate Fernando Mateo and financier Sara Turshwell.

Billionaire businessman Mugul John Catsimatidis is pushing for a second run for City Hall after losing the GOP primary to Joe Lotta in 2013. The petition to get on the ballot is March 2, so he will have to decide soon.

“The Staten Island Republican Party interviewed all of the candidates who answered our call … Curtis Sliwa was the obvious choice to be our candidate, and we are enthusiastic to support him as he seeks to save our city and the Staten Island Brings its vision to protect the quality of life. ”Reinhard said when asked about Katsimatidis.

Sliwa, who recently filed paperwork for his candidacy, said that if Catsimatidis jumps in the race, he will step aside.

Catsimatidis has 77 WABC talk radio and Sliwa has its own radio program on the network – meaning Catsimatidis owns it.

“I am honored to receive the support of the Staten Island Republican Party. This is the body that saved the city twice, first with Rudy Giuliani and then with Mike Bloomberg.

“Right now, with our city likely to have a crime crisis and fiscal disaster, I look forward to working with Republican leaders across the city to protect it.”

While the Democratic candidates are talking about reintegrating into the NYPD, Sliwa and his guardian Angels security patrol continue to patrol metro stations and other locations and have seen a spike in crime.

On Saturday, Sliwa stopped outside the Bay Ridge train station, where an elderly man was mugged on a subway platform.

“The paramount issue is crime and public safety. Salwa said without knowing that nothing else happens.

“Public safety is my strength. This has been my whole life. “

Staten Island has a GOP Congress with Reps. Nicole Malliotakis. Other Republican elected office-holders include Borough President James Odo, State Sen. Andrew Andrewza, Council Members Joseph Borelli and Steven Mateo, and Assembly Members Michael Reilly and Michael Tannousis.

Former President Donald Trump insisted on President Biden in the election last fall.

Strong votes on the island helped Rudy Giuliani be elected as mayor twice and Michael Bloomberg three times as mayor when he ran under the GOP banner.
