The Giants sign two indirect offensive linemen after the 2021 NFL Draft

Four of the six members of the Giants’ 2021 draft class are defensive players and none of the six are an offensive lineman. What does that tell you?

Clearly, the Giants were not desperate to increase their line and when offensive linemen were available, they did not like Price on the board. This does not stop the veteran lineman from signing on as an unrestricted free agent or waiting for the Giants market to shake out what.

Certainly, the Giants added two linemen soon after the conclusion of the draft, agreeing with Brett Heggie (Florida) and Jake Burton (Boiler).

“It’s really clear that we put a little more confidence in our offensive line,” general manager Dave Getelman said Saturday after all the Giants were selected. Always trying to do better. You are not going to take just one player to take him. ”

Not that the Giants deliberately avoided taking an offensive lineman. He had at least one of them ranked ahead of linebacker Aziz Ojulri, but was eliminated from the board after the Giants traded below 42 to 50 in the second round.

On Day 3, when the Giants were primed to take a guard prospect, they took an outside linebacker, a running back and a cornerback with their three picks.

For now, they have Andrew Thomas, Matt Peart, Nat Solder. They have Nick Gates in the center. They have Shane Lemieux and Will Hernandez. On the interior he has veteran backups of Zach Fulton, Jonotthan Harrison and Chris Slade.

Is it good enough

“You don’t want it to be good enough, you want it to be good,” Getman said. “Right now, our offensive line is what it is and who the players are and we are going to move forward. ‘

If head coach Joe Judge was adamant that the offensive line needed help, there would be a way to add one to this draft.

The judge said, “We have got encouragement on our roster right now.” “I would say that we are always looking to make every situation more competitive, but right now we are committed to working with the people on our roster and improving each one of them individually, and that is what makes the unit collectively should help. ‘
