Thousands of fentanyl pills seized in Mount Vernon drug bust

Authorities on Monday seized ten thousand phenetanil pills last week as part of a multi-million dollar drug haul in Westchester County.

The US Drug Enforcement Administration said 28-year-old Carlos Vasquez was arrested Wednesday in Hamilton, NJ after a takedown in Mount Vernon and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The federation said the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force found at least 25,000 fenantyl pills “M30” and 38 kilograms of other drugs, including heroin and cocaine, that Vasquez is set to sell inside the Mount Vernon apartment.

Officers also seized $ 35,000 from Yonkers’ residence with a search warrant.

“This seizure is a sign of how traffickers are making drugs on the street extremely powerful and highly addictive,” said in-charge Ray Donovan. “This is a warning that local smugglers have varied the methods of delivery, some selling only fentanyl and some selling mixtures of fentanyl and other drugs.”
