Tiger Woods will not face criminal charges in California car accident

Tiger Woods will not face criminal charges over a single-car crash that left him with serious leg injuries, California officials said Wednesday, reiterating that there was no evidence of impairment.

“The reckless driving charge has a lot of elements,” he said. “This is purely an accident.

“There will be a reason for this, and there will be a vehicle code attached to the cause – if it is inadvertent driving, whatever it may be – but it is a violation,” said Villanueva. “Careless driving is really more than an infusion. It is a wrong crime with a lot of elements involved, and there is nothing like it [in Woods’ case]. “

Villanueva additionally asserted that there is no evidence that Woods – who has prior driving issues under the influence – was intoxicated at the time of Tuesday’s accident.

“The deputy on scene assessed Tiger Woods’ situation and there was no evidence of any kind of harm,” Williamsuva said. He said, ‘He was intoxicated with alcohol, had no smell of any medicine, no substance or anything that brought him into question.

“It is what it is: it is an accident.”
