A man accused of kidnapping 18-year-old Naomi Irion from a Nevada Walmart was charged Friday with her murder.
Troy Driver, 41, was charged with open murder two days after Iron’s body was found in a makeshift grave in a remote area of Churchill County, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Open murder includes first-degree murder and all related offenses in the state, burglary and destruction of evidence,
Driver remained in jail after being arrested last week for allegedly abducting the teen on March 12 in a Walmart parking lot outside of Reno as Irion waited for a ride to her job at the Panasonic factory.
Driver had been caught on surveillance footage driving her 1992 Mercury Sable, which was later found abandoned in an industrial park.
He abducted her “on or about March 12” and “did hold or detain her for the purpose of committing sexual assault and/or purpose of killing her,” according to the two-page criminal complaint filed Wednesday in Lyon County’s Canal Township Justice Court.

Hundreds of volunteers throughout Irion’s grieving home community of Fernley had combed through the desert looking for clues in the young woman’s disappearance, which made headlines across the US.
