The pilot of United Airlines Flight 328 repeatedly called “Mayday” as one of its engines exploded, raining debris on a suburb of Denver, Colorado.
“We have experienced engine failure, need to turn. May Day May Day. United, uh, 28,” according to the air traffic control call, the pilot turned radioactive from Denver International Airport shortly after takeoff on Saturday. Received by the Denver Post.
“Combined 328, heavy May, May, aircraft, uh …” the pilot repeated before air traffic control asked him to repeat his immediate call for help.
The pilot warned, “United 328, Heavy Mayd, Aircraft just experienced engine failure, required a turn immediately”, soon allowing the left turn to be prepared for emergency landing.
The call was caught on as the shocking video that quickly went viral online, as their engine was completely engulfed in flames above Colorado.
Other footage showed debris falling from the sky filled with black smoke – falling on Bloomfield, a Denver suburb, with a huge chunk of the engine.
“Given the number of people visiting Commons Park on weekend days, we are grateful that no one was injured,” The city police said,

One follower replied, “It is illogical to hear that no one was injured or killed when an airplane broke into the sky in a packed neighborhood.”
The wreckage, about 15 feet in diameter, crushed Kirby Clements’ truck bed outside his house, leaving other pieces in his garden.
“If it had been 10 feet apart, it would have descended from the top of the house,” he told the Associated Press. “And if someone were in the truck, they would have died.”
Despite the drama, the air-bound plane landed safely at Denver International Airport, and no one was hurt on board or on land, officials said – much to the ship’s astonishment.
“When it initially happened, I thought we were done. I felt we were going down, ”said Delucia, who had stuffed her wallet in her pocket to be easily identifiable when the plane went down.
“The pilot did an amazing job,” Delucia said.
The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement that the airplane experienced a correct engine failure immediately after takeoff.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating. Authorities have not released any details about what may have caused the failure.
