Bring your COVID-19 test results, a face mask and a tape measure to the wedding reception you encounter.
New York’s strict new rules for weddings and catering events, effective March 15, will allow 150 people to gather – but for guests with very close and only negative coronovirus test results or until completion of COVID-19 vaccination .
Guests can only dance with their own party / household / family members – who are seated together and then only “in designated and clearly marked areas or areas that are assigned to them.”
The zone consists of at least 36 square feet and any dance areas or zones other than six feet, The rule says.
And don’t even think about exposing a trick with someone in another area.
The state says, “Guests may not enter, use, or otherwise enter other dance areas or areas.”
It is fine for “selectors” to include the bride and groom when they take their first dance “so long as they maintain a separation of six feet from other appearances throughout the dance.”
The band can play, but only if at least 12 feet away from the guests or separated by an obstacle.
And guests should keep their masks until they are eating. They “cannot eat or drink” if members of different parties / households / families are within six feet. “
