It won’t be long until the Gypsy King is back in the ring.
Tyson Fury co-promoter Bob Arum has said the latest Fury will fight again will be late February or early March, according to a report from the Manchester Evening News. The only question will be who Fury faces.

And that question has been made more complicated by recent events. Fury has wanted a unification bout with Oleksandr Usyk, but Anthony Joshua exercised his rematch clause to force a fight against Usyk next spring.
It was thought that Fury’s next opponent could be Dillian Whyte, the WBC’s interim champion, in a mandatory title fight. However, Whyte is in a legal battle with the WBC over the governing body’s refusal to previously line him up with a title fight.
Though the lawsuit is preventing the WBC from naming Whyte the mandatory challenger, that doesn’t mean a fight between him and Fury won’t happen. Arum told BoxingScene that he and co-promoter Frank Warren will talk with Whyte’s team about a possible fight in March at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

“Frank and I are looking for the best possible opponent,” Arum told BoxingScene. “Obviously, number one, we would like Usyk if Joshua steps aside. Number two, if that’s not possible, then Whyte probably is as attractive an opponent for Tyson as anybody else out there. So again, we’re gonna sit down with [Whyte’s] people and see if we can work out a deal.”
Speaking with IFL TV, Arum said that a fight with Whyte does not have to be mandatory and that it would be a good matchup for Fury to take, and noted that if the two were matched up, Fury would “owe” the United Kingdom a fight on British soil. He also said Joe Joyce would be an option if Whyte or Usyk isn’t available to fight.
Arum noted that if a fight between Fury and Whyte should happen, the purse split should be 80/20 in favor of Fury based on previous purses between the two boxers. Whyte promoter Eddie Hearn has called the split “outrageous.”

Fury is coming off back-to-back wins against Deontay Wilder, first by TKO in seven rounds in February 2020 and then most recently by knockout on Oct. 9, 2021. The first of the two sent the WBC and The Ring heavyweight titles to Fury.
