Andrew Yang soon gained some high-profile support from Jewish leaders in the mayor’s race, his campaign told The Post.
The instruments signing the Yang Gang include Brooklyn state assembly member Simha Eichtenstein, City Councilman Kalman Yeager, and a group of prominent local rabbis.
A support ceremony was planned for Sunday, but the Brooklyn Jewish community delayed until sometime later in the week as mourning the 45 people killed in the stampede in Israel, confirmed the Yang campaign.
“It is a big deal to meet Kalman Yeager and Simha Eichtenstein because we are involved in hometreach. He spoke with Andrew and decided to postpone public support for events in Israel. But we are excited to welcome him to Team Yang this week, ”a campaign insider told The Post.
The endorsement is a major victory for Democratic Yang, who is looking to garner Jewish support in Brooklyn, and will likely sting Borough President Eric Adams, a fellow Dame, and Yang’s main rival in the race.
Frontrunner Yang raised eyebrows among religious Jews for his personal opposition to circumcision, and for close associations between his co-publicity manager and accused anti-Linda Sarsour.
